The Best Oatmeal Ever

Ingredients

  • ½ cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • cups water
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Salt
  • 3-5 cardamom pods or ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 cinnamon stick or ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup Nut milk - + extra for servine
  • 1 banana or any other fruit you like
  • Handful walnuts or any nuts you like, chopped
  • Maple syrup or honey

Instructions

  • Put the oats and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add a tiny pinch of sea salt, cardamom pods and cinnamon stick and stir with a wooden spoon. Lower the heat to simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don't let the oats burn. Check if they need liquid. Add the milk and cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Remove the cardamom pods and cinnamon stick, and discard. Ladle the oatmeal into deep plates. Pour over more milk, as if it was cereal. Slice the banana in with a sprinkle of nuts. Drizzle a little bit of maple syrup and serve.
